For beginners, larger soft top surfboards or longboards (typically 8–9 feet) are best, that is assuming an average size adult. For smaller individuals surfboards in the 7-8 feet range would be ideal.  The larger surfboards provide stability and make it easier to catch waves. While many new surfboards include surfboard fins, there are good selection of the more high end performance shortboards that do not come with fins.  Leashes are usually purchased separately. Waterboyz also stocks surf accessories so you can complete your setup in one place.
